The Problem: Bringing Supplier Diamonds and Ring Settings Together

Derco’s brief called for natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, a custom ring builder and ready-to-wear wedding bands within one store.

The ring builder needed to support two ways of shopping. Customers could choose a setting first and then find a diamond, or begin with a diamond and choose a setting afterwards. Both routes needed to bring the selections together into a final ring.

Behind those screens, the website needed to receive diamond information from different vendors. The requirements included both supplier connections and data files, making inventory handling a substantial part of the project.

The challenge was to connect these two sides of the business: the jewelry customers could choose on the website and the changing supplier information supporting those choices. The storefront and its inventory connections needed attention throughout the engagement.

WooCommerce Ring Builder Development

The project was built around WooCommerce, with separate areas for loose natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds and finished jewelry.

The ring-builder brief connected setting selection, diamond selection and a final review page. Product information, metal choices, ring size and imagery all formed part of that journey.

TPS also addressed specific storefront behavior during ongoing development. One issue caused the engagement-ring setting list to send customers to the homepage when they tried to load more products. TPS corrected that navigation problem.

This was a practical part of keeping the buying journey connected. A customer browsing further settings needed to remain within the collection rather than lose their place.

The team also changed the cut filter used for lab-grown diamonds. That work addressed the selection controls customers used to narrow their diamond choices.

Diamond Supplier Integration and Inventory Updates

TPS worked on the supplier connections feeding Derco’s diamond service, including the addition and maintenance of supplier data sources.

For the Lamha connection, the work included integration, scheduled updates and corrections to the manual import page in the live service. TPS also added detailed logs to help investigate supplier-processing issues.

Other work addressed a changed data address from Laxmi. When the earlier address stopped working, the connection needed to be updated so the service could use the replacement source.

These tasks illustrate why supplier integration continues beyond the first connection. A supplier can change its data source, an import can encounter a problem, or a scheduled update can stop running. The website needs support for these changes as well as its original development.

TPS’s work covered both adding supplier connections and maintaining the processes used to receive their data.

Supporting Everyday Store Management

The engagement also included work on a price-update plugin for engagement rings and wedding bands.

The client wanted a way to apply a price adjustment across relevant products rather than work through them individually. TPS carried out development on that requirement as part of the wider store support.

This extended the project beyond the pages customers saw. The retailer also needed practical ways to manage products and respond to changes in the business.

Together, the storefront corrections, supplier maintenance and product-management work addressed different parts of the same operation. The ring builder depended on usable product pages, while diamond discovery depended on the information supplied behind them.

The Client’s View

Derco’s manager shared this feedback about TPS’s delivery:

“They met all our needs on time.”

The review describes an engagement that included a diamond search tool. Later supplier and maintenance work continued to address the website’s operating needs.

The Outcome: Jewelry Shopping Supported by Supplier Connections

TPS’s work brought together WooCommerce jewelry development, diamond-search support and ongoing supplier-feed maintenance.

Concrete improvements included the setting-list navigation correction, lab-grown diamond filter work, supplier import fixes and scheduled-update support. These addressed both the customer journey and the processes providing its diamond information.
