The Problem: Supporting More Than a Standard Product Purchase
The development work covered several different ordering requirements.
A customer might want a ring setting without choosing a center diamond. Another might want to add an engraving to a finished ring or wedding band. Someone considering a particular design might also want to see related versions of that style.
Each of these choices affected more than the appearance of a product page. A setting-only purchase needed the correct options before it could enter the cart. Engraving text needed to remain attached to the order. Related products needed to reflect the design being viewed.
The challenge was to connect these requirements within the Magento store. Product pages, builder controls and checkout needed to handle the details of the jewelry purchase consistently.
Magento Ring Builder Development with Setting-Only Purchases
TPS added a “Buy only setting” option to the ring-builder setting page.
This gave the development a clear purpose: support a purchase that did not require the customer to select a diamond through the builder.
The work also included validation of the ring-size selection and checks on the add-to-cart behavior. These details belonged together. The setting-only option needed to carry the required purchase information into the cart, rather than simply provide another button on the page.
TPS also worked on related-product logic within the ring builder. This connected the setting being viewed with other relevant designs or configurations.
Together, these changes addressed both the customer’s purchase choice and the surrounding browsing experience.
- Choose a productSetting-only and ready-to-wear
- Add personal detailsRing size and engraving
- Carry the details forwardCheckout and order email
Carrying Engraving from the Product Page to the Order
Personalization was another specific requirement.
TPS added engraving-text functionality to ready-to-wear wedding bands and rings. The entered text was carried through the checkout flow and into the order email.
That final step was important to the feature. Collecting an engraving on the product page would only solve part of the requirement; the wording also needed to remain available when the order was received.
The work connected the customer’s input with the information passed along after purchase. It is a small part of the visible interface, but a meaningful part of ordering a personalized piece.
TPS also corrected an add-to-cart issue affecting ready-to-wear products, addressing the transition from selecting a finished item to placing it in the basket.
Presenting Related Designs and Jewelry Details
The product-presentation work extended across ring, pendant and earring builders.
TPS worked on showing related settings of the same style within these modules. Ready-to-wear product pages also received work on related products with other configurations.
This gave the development a consistent subject: helping customers explore alternatives connected to the piece already under consideration.
Another change separated center-stone information from accent-stone information on ready-to-wear product pages. These describe different parts of the jewelry, so the page needed to present them separately.
The work addressed the detail within the catalog, from the relationship between products to the way individual stone information appeared.
Quick Ship Inventory and Price Updates
TPS also developed Quick Ship diamond-inventory functionality.
This introduced a separate inventory requirement alongside the broader jewelry catalog. The work formed part of the systems supporting diamond selection, rather than a change limited to page design.
On the product-management side, TPS worked on automated price updates for pendant and earring settings. This extended the development into the processes used to maintain catalog information.
These operating features complemented the customer-facing work. The store needed to present jewelry choices clearly while also supporting the information and updates behind those choices.
The project therefore covered several connected layers: how products were presented, what customers could select, what entered an order and how parts of the catalog were maintained.
The Outcome: More Detailed Jewelry Ordering on Magento
TPS completed development work covering setting-only purchases, ring-size validation, engraving through checkout, related-product presentation and ready-to-wear cart behavior.
Additional work covered Quick Ship inventory and price-update processes.
The result was a set of specific Magento features built around jewelry-ordering requirements. The project demonstrates how custom development can connect a product-page choice with the information needed later in the purchase process.
For Amazing Settings, the work extended from the design a customer explored to the engraving text included in the order email.
